Ebook {Epub PDF} The Antichrist: A Criticism of Christianity by Friedrich Nietzsche

The Antichrist. For Friedrich Nietzsche, Christianity as we know it is a corruption of Christ’s original message that emphasized a simple, blissful acceptance of one’s reality without anger and resentment at anyone. The Apostles however disregarded this message and created a religion through which they express their resentment at the upper class of society and then subsequently try to exact revenge . Not a few religious people have been shaken by their encounters with Friedrich Nietzsche's searing attack on Christianity as being anti-life, anti-intellectual, and the religion for losers. A man who writes a book called The Antichrist–and who identifies with the title–is no shrinking violet when it comes to polemics. It is no wonder that many atheists prize Nietzsche as their ace prosecutor against . Nietzsche’s “Antichrist” can be read as his condemnation of the religion of Christianity as a purveyor of false morality that degrades and sickens the human race. In laying such charges at Christianity, Nietzsche differentiates the prevailing Christian ideology as constructed and propagated by the Apostles of Jesus Christ- Paul especially- from the original message from Jesus Christ.

I have just finished reading Friedrich Nietzsche's "The Antichrist: A Criticism of Christianity". The theme of this book or perhaps extended essay is the criticism and/or condemnation of the Christian faith. I must admit I am surprised how many of Nietzsche's points are still very relevant today despite the fact this book was written But a constant theme in Nietzsche's work was his criticism of Christianity as the antithesis to his own philosophy. To my knowledge, there is only one recent book-length work by a Christian thinker that rises to Nietzsche's challenge: A. J. Hoover's excellent Friedrich Nietzsche: His Life and Thought (Praeger, ). Vol. I. The Antichrist: an Attempt at a Criticism of Christianity. Vol. II. The Free Spirit: a Criticism of Philosophy as a Nihilistic Movement. Vol. III. The Immoralist: a Criticism of Morality, the Most Fatal Form of Ignorance. Vol. IV. Dionysus: the Philosophy of Eternal Recurrence.

Psychoanalyzing Nietzsche. Nietzsche seems to have a life-long obsession with Christianity, which he blames for the subversion of all noble values, and the corruption of the Western civilization. Pity has two horrible consequences: it increases suffering and preserves the people who cause this suffering as objects of our pity. Therefore, pity should be negated because it makes life more miserable and decadent. The Antichrist also submits that the conception of the Christian God is contradictory and decadent. Power and self-interest have led many throughout history to the wrong decision for the greater good of society. In “The Anti-Christ”, Nietzsche describes how he believes that power and the will to gain power brings happiness to man.
